SIGNPOSTED WALK - MALONNE

This walk takes you through the village of Malonne and some of its less frequented little streets.

From the rue du Fond, walk up the rue des Monastères to the Malonne cemetery. Here you can pay your respects to the soldiers who died in the Battle of Neufchâteau (22 August 1914).

Then take the dirt track alongside the cemetery, which offers a breathtaking view of the Institut Saint-Berthuin (the former abbey of Malonne, founded in the 15th century). You will then arrive at the hamlet of the “Champ de Malonne”, then descend to the hamlet of “Les Ternes”, before passing over a small stream, the Landoir. From here, follow the narrow path up to Rue du Chepson, which leads directly to a lovely viewpoint over the surrounding countryside. Then follow the road towards Reumont, round the Reumonjoie school, and down the Route de la Navinne.

Before reaching your starting point, you will pass the Centre Mutien-Marie, a place of pilgrimage and prayer, which also houses a museum and an audiovisual room telling the story of the Saint. You can also visit the Chapelle Saint-Berthuin and the Grotte Notre-Dame.
