One evening, a young man came to read us a text he had written a few years earlier and we were speechless. When you’ve had the privilege of holding fire in your hands, you owe it to yourself to share it. Assigné à existence burned my eyes. It’s a raging intimate and political manifesto, written mainly in verse and published in the midst of an existential crisis by a twenty-four year old poet from Brussels. It’s a literary insurrection against the catastrophic social, ecological and political legacy left behind by the boomer generation.
A telluric text, at odds with contemporary productions, haunted by nostalgia for the commonplace. A wandering of bodies on the edge of legality. An incitement to revolt.
