Open-air exhibition on the Wellington Barrier

Following the defeat at Waterloo and the formation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the latter, on the advice of the Duke of Wellington, decided to (re)fortify its southern border between 1815 and 1825 in the form of the ‘Wellington Barrier’.
The exhibition aims to highlight this undertaking and the heritage value of the fortifications that still exist today in Flanders and Wallonia.

The project is being run in collaboration with EFFORTS (European Federation of Fortified Sites). Participating towns : Oudenaerde, Dendermonde, Menen, Mons, Philippeville and Namur.
