Incredible 60th performance of this immense success of the Namur Chamber Choir for the 60th anniversary of the Namur Music Festival! A must !
Unleashing of the four Elements exhorted by divine Justice, cries of fear swallowed up by the rising waters, triumphant air of Death to the rhythm of a tarantella, redemptive rainbow… Il Diluvio universale recounts the episode of the Flood of Old Testament. with formidable dramatic effectiveness.
Forgotten for more than three centuries, the oratorio, performed for the first time in 1682, owes its rediscovery to the Argentine conductor Leonardo García Alarcón, an insatiable explorer of neglected baroque nuggets.
Since its recreation on September 11, 2010, each performance has made Michelangelo Falvetti’s work of profound originality and rare power resonate. Under the fiery direction of Leonardo García Alarcón, at the head of Cappella Mediterranea and the Namur Chamber Choir, the soloists summon the most intense human and celestial passions, in a veritable deluge of emotions.
While a major climate crisis is at the heart of the news, this work telling the myth of Noah finds a particular resonance in our contemporary world.
