Painter, sculptor, author, Thierry Robrechts is a figure well known to many Namurois. In the open air or in his studio, his work is at the crossroads of the poetic act and the political act, his characters seeming to illustrate a myth in full writing before our eyes …
As part of “Un Eté Autrement”, Thierry Robrechts will take up residence in the Abattoirs de Bomel exhibition hall for a singular work-in-progress, right before your eyes. You can then enter and visit her workspace!
Imagine for a moment passing in front of the studio of an artist whose wide open door allows you to observe what is happening there day by day: the evolution of his work, between trials-errors-outcomes, feeling the smells of paintings, plaster, hearing the music he listens to while working … And then, as an artist is very often present in his studio, imagine that you could enter into conversation with him. The kind of conversation fueled by the exchange and sharing of words around the way he looks at the world, but also yours. And then, one day, the artist leaves, leaving everything in place, the door of his studio remaining open voluntarily. What are you doing ? How are you going to apprehend what’s left of his passage?
Through “Atrophy”, get as close as possible to an act of poetic creation, in all that it contains in material, human and thought mechanism!
